Who we are

MuscleClarity is a UK-based reference site for lifters. References to "we", "us", or "our" on this page mean MuscleClarity, the data controller for any personal data this site processes.

What we collect

• Newsletter signup: your email address (required) and optionally your name. Used only to send the newsletter.
• Server logs: standard request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) kept short-term by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention.
• Local storage in your browser: your dark-mode choice and unit preferences (kg/lbs, cm/in). This data never leaves your device.

What we don't collect

• We don't use third-party advertising cookies.
• We don't track you across other sites or build behavioural profiles.
• We don't share data with social networks unless you click through to one.

Why we collect what we collect

• Newsletter: to send you the newsletter you signed up for. Lawful basis: your consent.
• Server logs: to keep the site available and protect it from abuse. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.

Where your data is stored

Newsletter data is stored with Supabase in a database hosted in the EU. The site itself is served by Vercel, whose edge servers may process requests from various regions for performance.

How long we keep your data

• Newsletter email address: until you unsubscribe (every email has an unsubscribe link).
• Server logs: typically 30 days, in line with our hosting provider's defaults.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Have inaccurate data corrected.
• Have your data erased (the "right to be forgotten").
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Withdraw consent at any time.
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Cookies

We don't set tracking cookies. The site uses your browser's local storage for a small set of preferences (theme, units) — this is stored on your device only and is not transmitted to us.

Children

The site is not aimed at people under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for newsletter subscribers, note the change in a future email. Trivial fixes (typos, link updates) don't bump the date.
